OUR LOCATION and ENVIRONMENT

Aurora Alternative is intended to be Home away from Home. If we are comfortable and spacious in our selves, then maybe we might be comfortable and open in our approach to learning. So that we can create a curriculum focused on your child’s needs and interests, Aurora will cater to a maximum of 8 students. The school is located in a verdant and peaceful setting in the East End of Toronto near Greenwood and Danforth. The school offers alternative seating: stools, bean bags, sofa, and wobble chairs with access to a range of visual, artistic, technological and reading resources. For recreational purposes, there is a pool table and a small gym area for physical exercise . The outdoor space is private and an oasis for both play and tranquility. There is a basketball and volleyball area, and several areas for outside work spaces. Students are encouraged to use the breadth of the space and find their flow. We will also have opportunities to explore the many green and open spaces in the neighbourhood from Monarch Park, Greenwood Park, Taylor Creek Park to the Beaches. Aurora Alternative also strongly encourages students to contribute their thoughts and ideas for enhancing the environment through the curriculum. Bring it on!
